Timothy Bradley Jr

Timothy Ray Bradley Jr. is an American Light Welterweight boxer. He currently holds the WBO World Welter weight Champion Title and has been rated as number 2 in the Light Welterweight division next to Amir Khan. Bradley was born on August 29th of 1983 at Cathedral City, California USA. He was nicknamed on the ring as “Desert Storm” and currently has 29 fights. Twenty-eight of which are wins of 12 knockouts, 0 losses, 0 draws, and 1 no contests.

Timothy Bradley debuted on his first professional boxing career by knocking out his opponent Francisco Martinez by the second round during their fight last August 20th of 2004. He garnered the WBC Junior Welterweight title after he defeated the British slugger Junior Witter on their fight which was held in England.

In 2009, Bradley had a bout with Kendall Holt which was to unify their WBC and WBO Championship titles. Despite receiving hard punches from the WBO Champion, Bradley won the bout through a unanimous decision and thus became the WBO champion. A few days after he fought and won Kendal Holt, Bradley was stripped by his WBC light welterweight title for his failure to respond to his mandatory fight with Devon Alexander. During the same year, Bradley fought another mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson on December 5th. Bradley knocked down Peterson on the third round hence winning the fight through a unanimous decision.


 
For his HBO debut, Timothy Bradley faced Luis Abregu on a non-title fight on the welterweight division. Despite the clear difference with their size, Bradley won the bout from Abregu. He also openly declared a challenge to Manny Pacquiao who was considered as the pound-for-pound king. Bradley forwardly stated to the Filipino Boxing champ to “Come break down this wall“.
 
In 2011, Timothy Bradley Jr. fought Devon Alexander through a unification bout of their WBO and WBC welterweight titles. Bradley Jr. won his fight with Alexander through a 10-round TKO decision on January 29th. After his fight with Alexander, Bradley was given the option to choose whoever he wanted to fight with and receive a $1.3 million pay. Although the public openly want Bradley to fight the WBA light welterweight Amir Khan, he opted not to go on with the bout. Due to this, Bradley dropped at number 2 while Amir Khan took rank number 1 at the Light Welterweight Rankings of The Ring Magazine and as well as ESPN.
 
Timothy Bradley Jr. was again stripped by his WBC title for refusing to fight the now WBA Junior Welterweight champion Amir Khan. It was announced that Bradley joined the Top Rank and will fight under the card of Pacquiao – Marquez III against Joel Casamayor.

Sergio Gabriel Martinez is a professional Argentine boxer. He was born on February 21st of 1975 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was popularly called with the nickname “Maravillia” which means “Wonder“.

Currently, Martinez is The Ring’s Middleweight champion, with formerly being an undefeated WBC and WBO Champion in the Middleweight division. He is also an owner of a WBC Diamond Belt.

In his previous professional boxing career, he actively participated in Light Middleweight Division and has held the World titles for WBC Latino and Interim WBC Light Middleweight championships.

Martinez is rated as rank number 3 best pound for pound fighter of the world by many of the sports news websites, boxing websites, and likewise Magazines such as The Ring, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and Yahoo Sports. The Ring Magazine and the BWAA awarded Martinez as the “Fighter of the Year” and “Knockout of the Year” recognitions respectively.

Sergio Martinez was born to Argentine parents Hugo Alberto Martinez and Susana Griselda in Avellaneda which is located in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. Before Martinez entered the boxing industry, he actively participated in Cycling and was also a fair football player. It was in year 1995 that Martinez made up his mind to become a boxer. Then he was trained by his uncle Ruben Paniagua before he entered the boxing industry as an amateur. He made a record of 39 wins and 2 losses during his amateur boxing career where his 2 losses where a knockout and unanimous decision. In 1996, Martinez broke his left hand which forced him to set back from his boxing career for about a year. Martinez also had been considering representing Argentina last 2000 Olympics but decided that he was too old to join the 2000 Olympics if he is going to wait for another two and a half year, so he chose to upgrade his boxing career to a professional level.


 
During the start of his professional boxing career, Martinez made his first professional boxing fight with Cristian Marcelo Vivas. He was then 22, but won his first boxing fight because his opponent got disqualified during the second round. His first 17 fights were all located in his homeland, Argentina and he has compiled a record of 16 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.
 
After having a quite low opponent stat in his homeland, Martinez decided to look for an opponent overseas. He traveled to United States during 2000 and had a bout with Antonio Margarito in Las Vegas. Although Martinez fought fairly back to Margarito after a bad start in the early rounds, Margarito was still handed the as the winner of the fight and thus making it Martinez’s first loss. After his loss in the United States, Martinez returned to Argentina and won 8 fights during a mere time span from April 2000 up to February 2002.
 
In 2008, Martinez won his fight from Alex Bunema in an 8-round retirement and thus handling him the Interim WBC Light Middleweight title. In 2009, he fought Paul Williams in a non-title Middleweight but lost his fight in a close-score winning bout. He remained in the Middleweight division and challenged the World Champion Kelly Pavlik. They had a bout in April of 2010 from which Martinez won his fight from Pavlik in a unanimous decision. Following his victory from Pavlik, Martinez had another fight on November. It was a rematch with Paul Williams from which he won the fight this time.

Boxing star Sugar Ray Robinson, or Walker Smith Jr., was referred to as the greatest boxer of all time. He was born on May 3 1921. His birth certificate states that he was born in Ailey, Georgia while his autobiography says that he was born in Detroit Michigan. His parents were Walker Smith Sr., a farmer, and Leila Hurst. His older sisters were Marie and Evelyn. At the age of 12, his parents separated, and he moved to New York with his mother.

Robinson tried to enter into a boxing tournament at the age of 14, but failed to do so because he was not able to get an AAU membership card, not until he turned 16. He got his name as Sugar Ray Robinson when George Grainford branded his style as “sweet as sugar“.

Sugar Ray Robinson started his professional boxing career in the year 1940. His first match was against Joe Echevarnia by knockout in the second round. Throughout the year, Robinson had another five boxing matches, and won four times. After a year, he had boxing matches with Sammy Angott, Marty Servo and Fritzie Zivic, who were boxing champions as well. Robinson and Zivic had a rematch in 1942, in which Zivic lost. Robinson did a rematch with Servo as well.


 
It was in the year 1942 that Sugar Ray Robinson was branded as the “Fighter of the Year”. He won against Jake LaMotta and Izzy Jannazo, along with three other boxing competitions. That year, he attained 14 wins and zero losses. He was also able to defeat his childhood boxing idol Henry Armstrong. In the year 1945, Robinson won against Jose Basora via a 10 round draw.
 
Robinson’s career under the welterweight division became a success when he defeated the greatest of his top challengers. He had a total of 75 fights in the year 1946. After being refused to make any boxing match, he was finally given an opportunity with a fight against Tommy Bell. They fought for the welterweight title on December 20, 1946.
 
The boxing star defended his welterweight title against Jimmy Doyle. Doyle died after he got serious injuries from the fight that happened on June 1947. After a year, Robinson had five more boxing matches, including a fight against Kid Gavilan. By the year 1949, he fought a total of 16 matches. He made a rematch with Gavilan, and won by decision during the second half. His toughest fight by that time was against Henry Brimm.
 
Sugar Ray Robinson had 19 matches in the year 1950. He was able to defend his title when he won the match against Charley Fusari. His succeeding fight after Fusari was with George Costner.
 
He got the middleweight title from Robert Villermain in 1950.
 
Robinson’s professional boxing record includes 173 wins with 108 knockouts, 19 defeats and 6 draws.
