
Juan Manuel Marquez is a professional Mexican boxer who is quite well-recognized by his championship title in a three-time weight division where he acclaimed 6 world titles in these classes. He was born August 23rd of 1973 on Distrito Federal, Mexico.
In his amateur career, Marquez made a record of 35-1. It also includes of his two wins at the Golden Glove Tournament.
The Mexican boxer began his professional boxing career on May 29th of 1993 at the age of 19. He was given the boxing nickname of “Dinamita” which means “Dynamite“. He had his first title bout with a boxing veteran Manuel Medina from which he won the title on the later rounds. He also defeated Derrick Gainer on the same year, from which he became the “Super Champion” through unifying the WBA and the IBF.
In 2004, Marquez had a bout with the Filipino boxing fighter Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. It was the Fight of the Year and many of the boxing enthusiasts and fans debated who deserved to win the fight. Hence, the officials proclaimed it a draw.
Juan Manuel Marquez also had a fight with one of the greatest featherweight slugger Chris John on 2006 in Indonesia. However, the Mexican boxer loss the bout with Chris John through a unanimous decision.
Later in 2006, Marquez gained the WBO Interim Featherweight title by defeating Terdak Jandaeng – a Thailander boxer. He also defended his title from the Filipino fighter Jimrex Jaca in a 9-round KO in Texas. This made Marquez to upgrade in the full status of a champion and thus made him a three-time Boxing Champ in the featherweight division.
He won Super Featherweight title from the 3-weight division world champ Marco Antonio Barrera and had won one title defense from the young aspiring Rocky Juarez.
Marquez and Pacquiao had another bout on 2008. And although both boxers fought in an evenly-matched fight, Pacquiao gained the disputed split decision won.
The Mexican boxer then upgraded again to a higher weight class and won his 3rd weight title division by defeating another world champion Joel Casamayor in an 11-round fight.
Marquez’s thirsts in boxing continued as he moved up again to another weight class division where he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hence, Marquez lost to a unanimous decision.
In November of 2011, Juan Manuel Marquez had another fight with the pound for pound Filipino Boxing Champ Manny Pacquiao. The officials declared Pacquiao as the winner of the bout as he had more punches landed on Marquez, although there had been many speculations that Marquez could have won the fight.
